A Journey of Faith Inspired by Kibeho
The Catholic Organisation “Flowers of Mary Mother of the Word Queen of Hearts” began with a spiritual inspiration received during Christmas High Mass on 25 December 2004 at Saint Michael Cathedral Parish in the Archdiocese of Kigali.
During prayer and meditation on the mystery of the Incarnation, a Christian woman reflected deeply on how the Word of God became man through the Virgin Mary. In that sacred moment, she felt called to visit Mother Mary at Kibeho regularly, just as a child lovingly visits his or her mother.
After sharing this inspiration with fellow believers outside the Church, they agreed to begin monthly pilgrimages to Kibeho every last Sunday of the month. The very first pilgrimage took place on 30 January 2005.
On that special day, the Rector of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Kibeho gave the group the name “Flowers of Mary” (Indabo za Mariya). He encouraged members to embrace Montfortian spirituality — a spiritual path centered on devotion to Mother Mary and total consecration to Jesus Christ through Mary according to Saint Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort.
Today, the ministry continues to spread the messages of Our Lady of Kibeho while helping believers renew their faith, deepen their prayer, and grow closer to Christ.
